11/07/2011 - New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - A fourth-place finish in the 2011 Breeders' Cup Classic on Saturday did not prevent Havre de Grace from finishing atop the final NTRA Thoroughbred Poll for 2011. The four-year-old filly was the 4-1 second pick in the 12-horse Classic field.

Owned by Rick Porter's Fox Hill Farm, Havre de Grace received 15 first-place votes and 189 points, an increase of seven points, to remain in the top position. The filly has been the top vote getter since her win over male horses in the Woodward during the Labor Day weekend.

"She didn't do anything to tarnish herself. She has another year ahead of her," said the filly's trainer Larry Jones.

Classic runner-up Game One Dude closes in the second position, up from fourth, with a first-place vote and 141 points.

"He ran so good," trainer Bob Baffert said about the four-year-old. "That track was so demanding; I've never seen it like that here before. Those horses had to work so hard."

Ladies' Classic winner Royal Delta, trained by Bill Mott along with Classic champ Drosselmeyer, also got one top vote and 135 points for third in the poll. Drosselmeyer, the 14-1 Classic winner, makes his first appearance in the fifth spot with a first-place vote and 111 points.

"You know, you can't ever fathom thinking about winning two races like this on a weekend. I mean, the biggest, most prestigious races of the weekend," Mott said Saturday after capturing the Breeders' Cup Classic.

Tizway, who was held out of the Breeders' Cup, fell one rung to fourth. The six-year-old received a single top vote and 122 points to separate Mott's two horses in the voting.

In sixth and seventh are two horses who also missed the World Championships at Churchill Downs. Pacific Classic winner Acclamation got two first-place votes and 88 points followed by Arlington Million champ Cape Blanco with 71 points and one top vote.

Coming in eighth is Juvenile Fillies winner My Miss Aurelia. Trained by Steve Asmussen, the two-year-old received 63 points followed by Flat Out (60) and Dirt Mile winner Caleb's Posse (49).

El Duque expected to throw Tuesday

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- New York Mets pitcher Orlando Hernandez, sidelined at spring training because of arthritis in his neck, is expected to resume throwing on Tuesday.

Hernandez received a cortisone shot Thursday after leaving camp and returning to New York to have his neck examined. The 41-year-old right-hander is penciled in as the team's No. 2 starter behind Tom Glavine.

El Duque's health is a major issue for the Mets, who won the NL East in 2007 and came within one victory of the World Series. Their aging and unsettled rotation is a big question mark this year.

Hernandez went 11-11 with a 4.66 ERA last season, including 9-7 with a 4.09 ERA in 20 starts after the Mets acquired him from Arizona in late May. But he missed the playoffs because of a torn calf muscle.

New York already is without Pedro Martinez, out until at least midseason following rotator cuff surgery. Among those competing for starting jobs are prospects Mike Pelfrey, Philip Humber and Jason Vargas, plus veterans Chan Ho Park, Jorge Sosa and Aaron Sele.

Notes: Mets manager Willie Randolph is excited about two new utility players he could have on his bench: Damion Easley and David Newhan. ''Their value is really all over the place,'' Randolph said. Easley can play anywhere in the infield and could be used as an emergency outfielder, though Randolph said he would prefer to keep the veteran in the infield. Newhan, meanwhile, can play second base, third or any outfield position for the Mets. ''I love versatility,'' Randolph said. ''I love guys that can give me options when I need them to step in.''
